Visometry’s Twyn 2.6 introduces innovative features for faster, more flexible quality inspection

Darmstadt, Germany – Twyn has become a go-to mobile AR-based inspection system for quality professionals. Visometry is now releasing Twyn 2.6, adding a range of features that make component inspection and project preparation faster, easier, and more flexible. These include multimedia document links for more informed inspection decisions, new inspection point types for more adaptable workflows, an enhanced Navigation Assistant, and a more streamlined user interface.

Quality inspectors have long valued the mobile AR platform Twyn for its ability to let them inspect components intuitively and in real time on a tablet, directly in production and across the value chain.

With Twyn 2.6, Visometry is expanding the platform with new and significantly improved capabilities that support the entire inspection workflow, from setting up projects in Twyn Studio to carrying out inspections on the shop floor with Twyn View. This includes live comparison of physical components with their digital twins and CAD specifications. The key updates include:

  • Twyn 2.6 now allows users to add decision-relevant information to inspections directly in Twyn Studio. Inspection Points can now be enriched with additional content beyond the CAD model and placed precisely on the component. Users can add text as well as supporting documents such as welding specifications, inspection records, and work instructions, along with images and CSV, Excel or PDF files. This gives inspection teams a centralized and expanded source of information within the workflow itself. Requirements remain accessible during inspection, supporting more robust conformity assessments and making collaboration between quality, engineering, and production more transparent, efficient and less coordination-intensive.
  • New inspection point types such as “Check” and “Remark” allow teams to conduct inspections more flexibly. Inspection points can be used depending on the task at hand, whether for planned inspections, spontaneous observations, or remarks, even where there is no fixed spatial reference. Combined with supporting documents, these new point types create a more connected workflow in which requirements, additional information, and documentation work together from planning through to evaluation.
  • The new Navigation Assistant in Twyn 2.6 helps users navigate 3D space with greater precision. It visually guides them to selected inspection points, making them easier and faster to locate during inspection, even in complex assemblies.
  • Visometry has also refined Twyn’s user interface. The Observation Capture Panel is now more user-friendly, with key features such as “Classification”, “Photo Capture”, and “Next/Prev” easier and faster to access. This reduces handling effort and lets users stay focused on the actual inspection task, helping them complete inspections more efficiently.
  • The improved code scanner now recognizes a wider range of barcodes and QR codes. For example, users can name sessions directly using part numbers based on the information contained in the code. This helps make inspection workflows more reliable and easier to trace.
  • To get the mobile inspection tool ready for use even faster, Twyn 2.6 introduces the “Fast Snap” feature. Twyn automatically generates multiple positions around the displayed start pose, enabling tracking to lock onto the component more quickly and smoothly. This reduces the need for manual readjustment and allows users to start inspections sooner.
  • Twyn’s international reach continues to grow. With Hungarian now available, users can choose from a total of 15 language versions for both the user interface and reporting.

“Twyn 2.6 reflects how we align our product development with user feedback. Many of the improvements and new features come directly from close dialogue with our users. With every Twyn update, our customers gain practical, tangible value for their everyday work,” says Dr. Harald Wuest, CEO and co-founder of Visometry.
