Inspect before you measure
Gothaer Fahrzeugtechnik is a market and quality leader in the fabrication of complex tubular and plate constructions in high-strength, fine-grained steels.
To meet the high-quality expectations of its customers, the company performs regular inspections. In the past, Gothaer Fahrzeugtechnik relied exclusively on metrology systems for these checks. But as components grew in size, verifying dimensional accuracy became increasingly tedious and time-consuming. Around three years ago, the company decided to test Twyn to streamline and accelerate the process
When augmented reality means efficiency
Chropynska Slovakia is an engineering and manufacturing company based in Detva, Slovakia.
The company’s production program consists of turnkey automated welding and manufacturing lines and production equipment for various industries including automotive, aerospace, rail and agriculture industry. By adopting Twyn, Visometry’s augmented reality solution for visual quality inspection, the company has sped up its processes and reduced errors and costly rework.
Twyn’s capability to check manufactured items against their CAD specifications allows Chropynska Slovakia to establish “quality gates” throughout the entire production process. But at Chropynska Slovakia, Twyn finds a wide range of quality control applications, including the inspection of fixtures that are used for part manufacturing.
Maschinenfabrik Bernard KRONE GmbH & Co.KG
Agricultural Machinery
Streamlined incoming goods inspection
The family-run KRONE Group is one of the largest manufacturers of commercial vehicles and agricultural machinery.
KRONE chose Twyn to optimize incoming goods inspections. The result: not only has the product quality improved, but logistics processes have become more efficient as well. Since introducing Twyn, it’s no longer necessary to bring parts and components to the quality control hall. Operators can now carry out inspections directly where components are delivered. This is particularly valuable for KRONE as many big parts are stored outdoors.
What’s more, the company can now determine early on whether a component needs to be evaluated through a time-consuming 3D measurement or can be released for production directly. And even if a part does need to be measured using a coordinate measuring system, Twyn enables KRONE to precisely define which areas of the component should be analyzed in details.
Large and complex welded parts easily inspected
CZ LOKO is one of the largest Czech manufacturers of diesel-electric locomotives and special railway vehicles.
Perfectly suited for inspecting large and complex welded parts right on site, Twyn helps CZ LOKO prevent errors and optimize their manufacturing and assembly processes, reducing rework and transportation costs. Indeed, detecting misaligned or even missing components such as brackets or supports late in the train manufacturing process can lead to huge costs. With Twyn, CZ LOKO’s quality operators can easily inspect complex assemblies and quickly localize any deviations directly on the production line.
Twyn is the ideal solution for companies that produce or receive large metal parts for railway wagons and locomotives and need to verify manufacturing accuracy before delivery or assembly. It enables organizations to confirm that multiple components have been welded precisely and that brackets and supports are correctly positioned according to the CAD model.
AR-powered, faster inspections right on location
Based in Croatia, EKO MEĐIMURJE is a European supplier of quality metal parts and welded constructions for world-renowned machine equipment manufactures.
With a wide range of highly complex products, EKO was searching for a faster and more flexible way to verify production quality. Because parts are shipped directly to customers, deviations or errors discovered upon arrival can be extremely costly. That’s why they decided to try Twyn. Using AR, manufactured components are verified against their CAD specifications, directly comparing the digital model to the physical part – based on digital twins.
With many helpful features and tools, like magnification, Twyn is the perfect inspection tool even for very large objects. Once deviations are found, they can be documented on site in real-time using photo captures, annotations, and markups and made available later as digital reports.
Before Twyn, manufactured components were compared to 2d printouts of their specifications. With Twyn, EKO can now perform AR-powered, faster inspections right on location, identifying deviations more easily thanks to precise 3D-to-3D comparisons.
AR and Twyn: the right choice for maximizing speed
Over the past few years, automotive OEMs and suppliers have been leveraging the full potential of AR-based visual quality inspection.
Even a young organization like Sigma Motor, a motorsport company based in Přerov (Czech Republic), now uses AR and digital twins to visually inspect their race vehicles. Visometry’s AR-based visual quality inspection solution is used to check welded parts and brackets of their vehicles’ chassis.
